The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), in cooperation with the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI), has organized a workshop on Digital Institutional Development in Light of the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy, targeting AOI’s executive and supervisory leaders. The workshop was held at AOI’s headquarters as part of the graduation ceremony for a new cohort from the institutional digital capacity-building programs.
The workshop emphasized the importance of the fruitful partnership between the two sides in achieving the national digital and developmental goals, especially in building and enhancing the digital competencies of AOI’s leadership and workforce, to keep pace with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, AI, and emerging technologies. This contributes to the implementation of the digital institutional capacity-building efforts across AOI’s various specializations, according to the latest training systems, supporting the capabilities of AOI’s affiliates and personnel to adopt and sustain digitalization and AI projects.
The crucial role of joint workshops and events was also underlined, particularly in strengthening institutional capacity and digital institutional excellence, optimizing resource management, and keeping pace with the rapid technological advancements in AI and emerging technologies. These efforts help prepare institutions to integrate and sustain digitalization and AI-driven projects while building on the outcomes of periodic visits and meetings among leaders from MCIT and AOI to follow up on digital institutional development efforts and ensure business sustainability across all AOI-affiliated sectors, factories, and companies.
The workshop also featured a review of Egypt’s strategic vision and ongoing efforts in digital institutional development in light of the National AI Strategy, which reflects the growing national interest in the developmental application of technology, AI, and emerging technologies. This is in addition to the launch of the Digital Egypt strategy, which aims to build a secure, interactive, productive, and sustainable digital society, and the establishment of an ecosystem that promotes digital innovation, investment, and entrepreneurship to achieve a comprehensive digital society.
During the workshop, the critical role of AI across various state sectors was also highlighted, given its significant developmental impact on productive and service-oriented sectors. The workshop also included an overview of MCIT’s AI efforts since 2019, including the establishment of the National Council for AI (NCAI), the introduction of the National AI Strategy, and the launch of the Egyptian Charter for Responsible AI.
The workshop concluded with a graduation ceremony for a new cohort of executive and supervisory leaders from the institutional digital capacity-building programs. Certificates were handed out to 32 employees who successfully completed the training.
It is worth noting that these training programs and workshops are part of the broader digital institutional development plan aimed at enhancing general and specialized digital skills among the workforce at AOI-affiliated factories and companies.
The goal is to qualify them for sustainable resource management and enable them to leverage AI and modern digital tools in manufacturing and production, as well as the implementation and management of national projects. This contributes to improving resource utilization efficiency, rationalizing expenditure, reducing waste, preserving the environment, and developing institutional work mechanisms while reinforcing the role of digitalization and AI in effective and efficient business management
