The National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities (NAID), affiliated with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Egyptian Paralympic Committee (EPC) on empowering and integrating persons with disabilities (PwDs) into the sports community.
Under the MoU, the two sides will collaborate to provide assistive technology (AT) tools, advance technological applications, and conduct scientific research related to Paralympic games and associated ATs. The MoU also involves the provision of measurement devices and access to specialized laboratories dedicated to Paralympic sports.
The agreement also aims to foster collaboration in training athletes with disabilities on AT solutions and facilitating access to specialized technical labs for educational and research purposes in sports medicine. It also covers technical cooperation in developing tools for digital content production, simulation, Artificial Intelligence (AI) models, and modeling related to medical and sports research.
This collaboration reinforces national efforts to uphold PwDs’ rights, develop their capabilities, and ensure their inclusion across all aspects of life, in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
It is worth noting that NAID, based in Knowledge City at the New Administrative Capital, serves as a center of excellence for research and development in assistive technology. The Academy supports innovators, developers, researchers, and entrepreneurs in designing ICT applications and assistive technologies that empower PwDs.
