Egypt Engages in WSIS+20 High-Level Event 2025, AI for Good Global Summit

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has headed to Geneva to participate in the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS)+20 High-Level Event 2025 and the AI for Good Global Summit, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and hosted by Switzerland, on July 7-11.

The two events will bring together more than 40 ministers and over 60 heads of telecom regulatory authorities worldwide, alongside government officials and representatives of relevant international organizations.

The WSIS+20 High-Level Event 2025 is held in collaboration with several United Nations agencies, namely ITU, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and the Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD). It serves as a crucial platform for the international community to build on the outcomes of the Summit of the Future and strengthen global digital cooperation in line with an ambitious vision for a more inclusive and sustainable future.

This year’s High-Level Event serves as a platform to provide multi-stakeholder discussions and take stock of the achievements and key trends, challenges, and opportunities since the adoption of the Geneva Plan of Action in 2003 and the Tunis Agenda for the Information Society in 2004.

The Event coincides with the AI for Good Global Summit, which will address several pressing issues related to AI governance. In this context, the Egyptian delegation will take part in several sessions across the two events to showcase Egypt’s vision on digital society matters in general, and AI in particular.

Furthermore, the ICT Minister is scheduled to hold meetings with ministers, government officials, executives from major ICT multinationals, and representatives of international organizations. These engagements aim to explore avenues for collaboration and exchange expertise while also highlighting the most promising investment opportunities within Egypt’s ICT sector.
