ICT, Supply Ministers Launch Citizen Data Update Form in Port Said

by Ahmed Hassaan

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat and the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk launched, today, the Citizens’ Data Update Form in Port Said Governorate, marking an initial phase of a gradual nationwide expansion.

This step reflects the state’s commitment to enhancing the services delivered to citizens and ensuring access to subsidized food for eligible individuals.

The two ministers emphasized that accurate data updating is essential to maintain the ongoing disbursement of food subsidy benefits to current beneficiaries. They also underlined its importance in allowing new eligible citizens to join the subsidy system, thus promoting fairness in distribution and ensuring that subsidies reach the most vulnerable groups.

For his part, the ICT Minister explained that the Citizens’ Data Update Form serves as an organizational tool for issuing the single card, within the framework of collaboration between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, and all relevant entities. He pointed out that multiple channels are available to deliver this service in a manner that accommodates different segments of citizens and facilitates their access. The form can be filled out electronically via the Digital Egypt platform or at post offices in the governorate, with more than 15 offices already providing the service—a number set to increase gradually. Additionally, communication is available via the hotline for assistance.

Furthermore, Talaat highlighted that the single card is a flagship project designed to facilitate citizens’ access to their in-kind and financial entitlements from the government and various entities with which they interact. Beginning with food subsidy services, he clarified, the card will store all citizens’ data related to in-kind entitlements and will subsequently evolve into a payment card that can be used for all financial transactions, in addition to receiving these entitlements.

Farouk, for his part, referred to the Ministry of Supply’s full commitment to coordinating with MCIT to simplify procedures for citizens by making the form available electronically through the Digital Egypt platform, as well as through selected post offices in Port Said.

The two ministers urged all citizens in Port Said, beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries of food subsidies, to complete and accurately update their data through the designated channels to safeguard their rights and guarantee the continued receipt of their allocated food subsidy benefits.

They also underscored that the purpose of the Data Update Form is to guarantee the continued provision of food subsidy services to current beneficiaries while also allowing the inclusion of new members within beneficiary households or the addition of new households to the subsidy system. Completing the form also enables citizens to receive the single government services card, they added, which ensures fair distribution of subsidies, prevents duplication in disbursement, and contributes to expediting government procedures.

It is worth noting that the form includes citizens’ basic information, family data, place of residence, family health status, educational qualifications, and details of employment, owned companies, and vehicles.

In this context, the forms will be made available to citizens electronically starting Sunday, September 14, for a period of three months. All heads of households in Port Said Governorate, not only those currently benefiting from food subsidies, are eligible to complete the form, thus enabling the inclusion of new households.

To facilitate the process, citizens may fill out the form through the Digital Egypt platform. By clicking on Browse Services, selecting the Food Subsidy from the menu, and choosing the service titled Citizens’ Data Update Form, citizens can read and agree to the terms and conditions before clicking Start Service.
