Egypt, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) as Chair of the African Union’s AI Working Group (AIWG), took part in the 4th edition of the Africa Innovation Challenge. The event was organized by the African Telecommunications Union (ATU) in partnership with Huawei, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and iLabAfrica at Strathmore University in Nairobi, Kenya.

The event brought together ten continental finalists from Malawi, Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone, who had been selected for their innovative solutions addressing local and continental challenges. Over the course of a week-long training program, the finalists engaged in intensive workshops and mentorship sessions aimed at enhancing their technical and entrepreneurial skills.

MCIT’s representative delivered the inaugural training session, which set the stage for discussions on the role of AI in Africa’s development and its potential to tackle some of the region’s most urgent challenges.

Participants explored topics such as AI applications, digital inclusion, and innovation ecosystems, while also networking with leading experts and policy makers in the African tech sector.
