As part of its ongoing commitment to social responsibility as a pillar of sustainable development, Banque Misr has signed a cooperation protocol with the Baheya Foundation for the early detection and treatment of breast cancer free of charge, providing EGP 45 million in support. This will be used to equip a CT scan room at the Baheya Sheikh Zayed Hospital, which will enhance the hospital’s capacity to accommodate more patients. The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Hisham Okasha , CEO of Banque Misr, Eng. Tamer Shawky , Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Baheya Foundation, Mr. Hossam Abdel Wahab , Deputy CEO of Banque Misr, and Eng. Majid Hamdy , Member of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, witnessed the signing of the protocol, which was signed by Dr. Fatma El-Goly, Head of Communications at Banque Misr, and Ms. Laila Salem, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Baheya Foundation for Early Detection and Treatment of Breast Cancer, in the presence of a select group of leaders from the bank and the foundation.
The signing of the protocol comes within the framework of the bank’s keenness to continue supporting the hospital and women fighting breast cancer. The support aims to equip the radiology department at Baheya Sheikh Zayed Hospital with a CT scanner, which will help improve the accuracy of diagnostic imaging tests monitor tumours and determine their spread.
In this context, Mr. Hisham Okasha, CEO of Banque Misr, emphasised that the signing of this protocol embodies the bank’s commitment to its strategic vision as a key partner in achieving sustainable development. He explained that the bank considers investment in health and education to be among the most important pillars of true development. He added that Banque Misr’s support for Baheya Hospital stems from its belief that health is a fundamental right for every citizen, and that empowering women and supporting breast cancer fighters is an integral part of its role in serving society.
Okasha pointed out that the bank is keen to integrate with Egypt’s Vision 2030 in all its initiatives, which places at the heart of its priorities the promotion of quality health services and ensuring their availability to all citizens fairly and efficiently. He emphasised that the bank is keen to ensure that its community contributions are an extension of the state’s role in building capable individuals who enjoy a dignified life. He also stressed that Banque Misr will continue its efforts to support health and education projects, thereby contributing to social justice and raising the standard of living of citizens, based on its belief that development can only be achieved through the development of the Egyptian people.
Engineer Tamer Shawky , Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Baheya Foundation, expressed his thanks and appreciation to Banque Misr as a strategic partner and supporter of Egyptian women and the Baheya Foundation, which has provided early detection of breast cancer for nearly 300,000 women through the Baheya Centre in Haram and the Baheya Hospital in Sheikh Zayed, both of which are equipped with the latest medical equipment for diagnosis, treatment and the application of the latest international protocols protocols through a distinguished medical team. Shawky explained that the CT scanner is one of the most important devices in the diagnostic radiology department, contributing significantly to the accurate diagnosis of tumours and their spread. It is expected that nearly 10,000 examinations will be performed once the device is fully operational.
