Banque Misr announced that its Assets and Liabilities Committee has decided to lower interest rates on savings accounts in Egyptian pounds and US dollars, in light of the Central Bank of Egypt’s decision to reduce deposit and lending rates by 2%. These changes will apply to certificates issued from Monday, 1 September 2025.

With regard to Egyptian pound certificates, the yield on the fixed monthly yield triple certificate has been reduced by 1.5% to 17% per annum fixed for the entire three-year period, instead of 18.5%. The yield on the three-year fixed monthly decreasing yield certificate has also been reduced to 20.5% per annum in the first year instead of 23%, 17% per annum in the second year instead of 19.5%, and 13.5% per annum in the third year instead of 16%.

As for three-year fixed-rate dollar certificates, it was decided to reduce the interest rate to 4.75% fixed throughout the term of the certificate instead of 5.15% for monthly yield certificates, 4.77% instead of 5.20% for quarterly yield certificates, 4.80% instead of 5.25% for semi-annual yield certificates, and 4.85% instead of 5.30% for annual yield certificates.

For five-year fixed-rate dollar certificates, the interest rate has been reduced to 4.85% instead of 5.00% for monthly yield certificates, 4.87% instead of 5.05% for quarterly yield certificates, 4.90% instead of 5.10% for semi-annual yield certificates, and 4.95% instead of 5.15% for annual yield certificates.

Banque Misr confirmed that these adjustments come within the framework of keeping pace with market developments and enhancing resource management efficiency, noting that details of the reduction in returns on various savings instruments are available on the bank’s website.
