The Agricultural Bank of Egypt signed a cooperation protocol with the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater to provide electronic bill payment and collection services, transactions and services provided by the holding company and its subsidiaries to citizens, through the Agricultural Bank of Egypt deploying and providing electronic point-of-sale (POS) machines at customer service centers and all collection outlets affiliated with the company throughout the republic, to facilitate citizens to complete all their transactions with ease and security, which contributes to achieving the goals of financial inclusion and implementing Egypt’s Vision 2030.
The protocol was signed by Mr. Sami Abdel Sadek, Acting Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Agricultural Bank of Egypt, and Eng. Mamdouh Raslan, Chairman of the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater, in the presence of a number of bank and company leaders and representatives of the Ministry of Housing and Utilities.
The cooperation protocol aims to provide bill collection services, claims, measurements, fines and other services provided by the holding company and its subsidiaries to subscribers, through electronic point-of-sale (POS) machines that the bank will provide at all collection outlets so that citizens can pay all financial dues for the services they receive using electronic payment cards, which contributes to facilitating collection processes and helps in providing better service to subscribers.
During the protocol signing ceremony, Mr. Sami Abdel Sadek, Acting Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Agricultural Bank of Egypt, stressed that signing the protocol represents an important step towards expanding the provision of electronic payment services to millions of customers, especially in rural villages, which is in line with the bank’s strategy for digital transformation and expansion in the spread of electronic payment and collection systems to enable customers to conduct their transactions with ease and security at any time and place and provide a distinctive banking experience for customers, in order to achieve the national goals of financial inclusion and in line with the policies of the National Council for Electronic Payments and the efforts of the Central Bank of Egypt to stimulate the use of electronic means and channels in payment instead of using cash.
He explained that the Agricultural Bank of Egypt is able to expand the scope of benefiting from this protocol by providing a large number of point-of-sale machines to cover all the company’s outlets throughout the republic, in addition to studying the provision of financial and banking services to employees of the holding company and its subsidiaries in the governorates, relying on its technical and human capabilities. It also has a network of branches that is the most widespread in all cities and villages, which exceeds 1,116 branches, which allows access to all categories and segments of society in all governorates of the republic, especially in remote areas and border governorates, in addition to focusing on “Decent Life” villages to contribute to improving the quality of life in those villages and raising the standard of living of their residents. Eng. Mamdouh Raslan, Chairman of the Holding Company for Drinking Water, stressed the importance of this cooperation in improving the quality of services provided, stressing that the protocol comes in implementation of the directives of the Ministry of Housing and Utilities and takes into account security and quality in providing electronic payment and collection services, and in the context of the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance digital communication with citizens, and develop service technologies to meet the requirements of the era. The protocol also enhances digital integration and contributes to achieving financial inclusion in accordance with the Egyptian State Vision 2030. He added that this cooperation is a strategic step towards a future vision that achieves integration and innovation in providing services and within the framework of responding to the needs and aspirations of citizens.
